WCPA/IACP - New Chief Mentoring Program

The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association has joined forces with the International Chiefs of Police Association – Smaller Agency Advisory group to provide mentoring to new chiefs in Wisconsin. This free program matches an experienced chief – either in Wisconsin or anywhere in the United States with a new chief.

The program starts by having the new chief fill out an extensive three page questionnaire that you rate your competence in over 85 areas of the job. Don’t worry about the rating; it is just to help us match you with an experienced chief who has the expertise in the area(s) you need/want help in. Once you finish filling out the form, fax it back to the IACP. They enter it into their computer and find the best match.

Most of the time it will be a chief from Wisconsin, but occasionally we will match you with an expert from another state. After that, the two of you will talk by telephone, email and in some instances; the IACP will send the experienced chief to your department, free of charge to help you.
